Which Fresh Fruits Are In Season This Summer?
Summer is the season of fruit! From berries to tropical fruit to stone fruits, you’ll love the variety of choices available at Agri.
There’s nothing like serving your guests a refreshing fruit salad as a side or dressing a
wonderfully decadent dessert with a berry compote or sauce. You can even enhance a brunch cocktail or serve meat with its best fresh-fruit pairing.
Here are Agri’s favorite fruit picks this summer!
Peaches
Peaches are our local favorite this summer. We also have the doughnut variety! Peaches are one of the most versatile fruits and are universally loved. Add them raw or grilled as a luxurious enhancement to a salad, or make a classic peach pie or cobbler for guests to enjoy after their meal. Peaches are also a great pairing replacement for apples to serve with pork and chicken.
Cherries
Cherries are abundant in the summer months and the perfect sweet treat. Both the traditional red variety and golden/red Rainier variety bring acidity and tartness to desserts such as cheesecake, tarts and pies. They also pair wonderfully with other stone fruit like peaches, soft cheeses, and acids like balsamic vinegar.
Passion Fruit
Passion fruit is a unique tropical treat. Though its seeds can be surprising to see, they are edible and don’t need to be worked around. Passion fruit brings a lovely yellow color to any dish or drink it’s added to. It pairs well with other tropical flavors, such as pineapple and mango.
Yellow Seedless Watermelon
Everyone knows watermelon is the king of fruit in the summer. It’s sure to be found at every barbecue and picnic. Show off your culinary skills by elevating this common household fruit! And change it up even more with our yellow seedless variety. Whether you serve it fresh, pickled, or condensed, watermelon will always be a crowd-pleaser.
You’ll find all of these fine fruits and more for your New York or New Jersey-based restaurant in Agri’s warehouse. Contact your sales representative today to learn about our full range of summer produce
